The Face Shop shopping spree

Thursday, July 8, 2010
I've always used a VERY basic make-up kit and skin care products, probably because I really don't have the time and the energy to put on tons of make-up like most Korean women do....kkkkk. Most Korean women put on make-up the very moment they wake up....so the men in their lives haven't even seen the REAL(make-up free) face of their loving partner. Anyway, my make-up and skin care supply has long been out of existence but I just ignored it because I've always thought that there are much more important things to buy than that (I guess motherhood can take credit for that thought). But the sudden PIMPLE outbreak on my forehead proved that I need to pay attention to my face soon or I'll end up looking like a pimple faced teenager.

So after days and even weeks of hesitating to buy the necessary beauty products I needed..... my husband prodded me to GO for it or I'll regret it. So I went to my favorite The Face Shop store in Homeplus Uijeongbu branch and bought a couple of things:
  • Skin Care Product - The Face Shop's new line of skin care product is called the "Caviar: Black Pearl". It was only at that time that I realized that the reason why I was feeling sticky this summer even if I put on just a moisturizing product on my face is because there are different skin care products for the hot season and the cold season. All this time I kept on using the products for the cold season on my face even it was a whopping 32 degrees Celsius outside....kkkk. Anyway, now I know and I won't make the same mistake again. This new skin care line is very refreshing on the face and it feels very light even if you go out and enjoy the summer heat.

  • Loose powder - I usually use a dab of loose powder on my face for regular days ( meaning like a regular stroll with little Zach or a trip to the supermarket). This product makes your face glitter under the sun because it's not just a regular loose powder but it comes with glitter pearls.

  • Blush-ons and eye shadows - The new blush-on and eye shadow line of The Face Shop is called "Lovely Meex" because you can mix and match your blush-on and eye shadows and put it a separate container just like what I did.

  • Hand and foot treatment - Since summer is the season for flip flops and sandals it was high time for me to moisten my feet so it won't look dry and scaly when I go out for a walk...kkkk.
  • Mascara and eye liners - My eyes are big and Koreans never fail to tell me that....kkkk. So to make it look dramatic and pretty according to the Korean point of view I had to buy something to complement it.
  • BB cream - My new FAVORITE product ever....it's a moisturizer, concealer, foundation, and sun block combined. This is the secret beauty product of Korean women, it makes your face look absolutely flawless.
The best part of buying make-up products in Korea is the so-called FREEBIES. Most of the time you get tons of freebies for a couple of things you buy. This is a very popular Korean marketing strategy......and I absolutely love it because you get the feeling of "you get more than what you paid for"....kkkkk (p.s. you get more freebies if you're a regular customer like me, that's why I only buy at the same Face Shop store all the time, I get better perks than other customers...kkkkk). Check out the freebies I got below.

Anyway, I felt a little bit guilty for buying these beauty products but my husband insisted that I have to pamper myself sometimes.

wow, i would like to go shopping there. ang daming freebies :). i've only heard of the face shop, but i haven't seen any of them in the US market. there's a Korean store here, but they don't like speaking to non-Koreans.

that's a whole lot of freebies Cher! I wonder why I don't get freebies like that ^^;

do write some review about the product after you used it.

@kayni: yup korea is a freebie heaven for me, the face shop in the philippines is not so lenient with freebies and i got upset when i saw the samples/freebies being sold in the shop....gosh i get them for free here but hey sell it in the philippines

@emma: hahahah....i make it a point to chat with sales clerks and i really only go to the same shop so they all know me....kkk

@jeezvive: face shop bb cream is ok with my sensitive skin but as you know we all have different skin types and i really hope you'll feel satisfied with it too

hi cher! Tnx much!

Yes so far im liking it. Been using it since sat actually the day after i bought it hahaha. I use it on top of my waterbased moisturizer. Ill try to compare how it will look without the moisturizer sometime. Although i thought i can shelve my concealer for the dark circles on my eyes, but the concealer effect of the bb cream is so light i hve to put another thin layer of my concealer. Other than that, its cool! It lasts for a day inside a cool office.

Thanks for this blog!

Btw, have u tried the pore minimizing emulsion? Im not sure if its effective but i need a pore minimizer.

Hi Cher,

I enjoy reading your post about beauty products. I wonder what's the best and suitable BB cream for Pinay complexion?

Cher@Surviving Korea said...

@ladymishel: i prefer face shop bb cream because it's light on the skin....if you buy the bb cream in the philippines the face shop also offeres bb creams that suits the shade of filipina skin tone

i sent my sis in law samples of the HD bb cream pictured above and she raved about it, even better than the most expensive bb cream i got from innisfree, she said.

i might as well try it someday. ni-stop ko kase lahat ng skin care including bb cream except my sunblock when i got pregnant. nong nagd-dry skin ko lately during the day, i also just started using the sample cream of sooryehan..

how about you Cher, did you use any facial skin care products while you were pregnant? thanks...

Cher@Surviving Korea said...

@jehan: i still used skin care products like sunblock and moisturizer but no make-up and bb cream....kkkk

hi Cher! ako naman i use mineral makeup since i read a lot of reviews about it of women who broke out while being pregnant.. dati sunblock--make up lang ako but when i got samples of sooryehan, na-engganyo nang mag skin care ulit.. kkk...
